latest + greatest: mirrors

Anyone else panicking that it's already mid-August? WHERE DOES THE TIME GO? If California wasn't such a hot mess right now I would be en route via the hitch hike as we speak to the land where summer never ends*. *But is still really cool and city-like and near the ocean. (No offense, Austin.) And since this blog is not here for me to whine about the weather, we'll talk about mirrors. We are ALWAYS suggesting them. Mirrors are maybe one of the easiest solutions to your empty wall problem, small room problem, not enough natural light problem, not enough friends problem, etc. They add serious drama and style to your space while still being functional and are slightly easier than finding the right piece of artwork. (Even though we love art and think it's important too, it can be intimidating and expensive, and we'll do a post on that later.) Mirrors have style and grace....and I probably don't need to sell you anymore because everyone loves them already, right? Check out our top picks from the endless options on the internets!

emily's apt on design*sponge

Hey Friends! Just a quick post to mention that the lovely Design*Sponge graciously featured my (Emily's) Jersey City apartment! I've been meaning to shoot our home of 4 years for about 3 years now, so it's such a relief to check it off the list! We thought we'd share the photos here and you can also read more about it here (and see the floor plan if you so desire). Enjoy! (OH and in case you didn't know, there's two of us that make up Rehabitat, the other being Diane. She also has a beautiful home so we should work on sharing it on the blog too!)

rehab box: michigan living and dining

If you're new to our blog, welcome! We've been overwhelmed by all the support lately and have been pinching ourselves that we get to do what we love AND inspire others. I (Emily) have been REALLY BAD at blogging consistently, which is great because it means we're busy, but would be really great if I could find time to post more often. How does everyone do it?! Ideally, this blog would just blog itself. When's that app coming?

We thought today seemed like a good day to share a little more from our Rehab Box collections. These two boxes were for our kitty loving, whiskey collecting clients, Priya and Fraser, based in Michigan and are two of our favorites! They have great taste, a love for vintage and mid-century accent pieces, and were all around awesome to work with. Wanting to be more hands on and not quite ready to commit to a full service designer, the box was a perfect fit for them.

Check out our Rehab Box options (some might call it e-design) and see how you can get in on the action! We're in the NYC area but you don't have to be. We can work with you no matter where you live- except if you live in Hawaii, we'll have to come take measurements.

In other news, we have 2 new projects to photograph in the next couple weeks which we're totally excited to share, and I just finished shooting our place which you can see sneak peaks of on instagram to be featured on a major blog near you. Happy Friday everyone!

before + after: dom's coffee part 2

Yesterday, we briefed you on the process of designing Dom's Coffee. Today, we share what it has become and we couldn't be happier with the result! BIG sigh of relief. Thanks to dream clients Asta, Gitana, Andrius and Victor for being such a pleasure to work with- we are honored to have been involved in your shop and we hope the absolute best for you guys! Dom's opens Friday (in the greater Hartford area) so go get your latte with a pretty heart. It's waiting for you!

Sometimes, you just get tired of looking for that perfect piece at the same places over and over and over, you know? So you can assume our uncontrollable excitement when we had the pleasure of being  inspired  at the AD Home Show. Particularly,  from the Made section, which features independent designers and makers with impeccable taste. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering the booths pretending all the handcrafted, premium quality, custom designed pieces were totally affordable and within all our clients' budgets.  And we certainly weren't worrying about costs, lead times, minimum orders, or whether or not this particular shade of navy was "too navy" and if it needs a hint of green to truly flow with the rest of the space, etc, etc, etc. It was mostly just a good ol' time appreciating some good ol' talent.

So, we wanted to share some of our favs from the event. Specifically,  the artists, designers and pieces that stood out to us because of the unique designs, their responsibly sourced materials, or their way ahead of the game sense of style. (Like this rug to your right!? I die.)  Click through to read exactly what we love about each piece!
