In Progress: Leah's Dining Room

Our VERY kind and sweet client, Leah, agreed to let us share in progress images of her dining room, which we are happy to say is moving along quite nicely.

Her quaint 1940's home oozes vintage charm with arched doorways and original wood floors but the existing dining room corner cabinets were not a favorite. SO. After a back and forth about possible demo and construction and completely new cabinets and built ins and doors, etc, etc, etc, we decided to keep it simple, take the doors off and make it work. And it did! Painting everything the same color and adding paneling to distract from some of the inconsistent lines makes the room feel larger and more cohesive. Our notes above highlight more plans for the room that we are excited to post once completed! Thanks to Leah for allowing us to share and for being a dream client!

on the hunt @ brooklyn flea market and new york gift fair

Emily loves to shop, and I love NY, so we can't stop ourselves from spending a sunny afternoon pointing, poking, and trawling through, not only the flea market, but also the new york home tradeshow.  Called "antiquing" 30 years ago, we found some great vintage trends at Brooklyn Flea that would add style, pop and personality to any room.

Curiously, at the trade show, we noticed "new" vintage inspired designs that could have been straight out of the flea markets and vintage shops.   Vintage is hot, as it should be, and we're thankful that good designs of the past never go out of fashion.  One man's trash is another man's treasure, and yet another's new purchase, as you can see.

let there be light: chandeliers and pendants

Its getting darker earlier . . . time to turn on the lights!  Not just flicking the switch to turn on the overhead - yuck.  Time to turn on the lamps, the chandeliers, burn the fireplace, light the candles, accentuate the positive!  We've chosen our favorite chandeliers and pendants  (for all types of budgets and styles)  that will add cheer, as well as light, to your dark corners. Lamps, accent lighting, sconces and more! coming soon...
