Hey Friends! Just a quick post to mention that the lovely Design*Sponge graciously featured my (Emily's) Jersey City apartment! I've been meaning to shoot our home of 4 years for about 3 years now, so it's such a relief to check it off the list! We thought we'd share the photos here and you can also read more about it here (and see the floor plan if you so desire). Enjoy! (OH and in case you didn't know, there's two of us that make up Rehabitat, the other being Diane. She also has a beautiful home so we should work on sharing it on the blog too!)
Yesterday, we briefed you on the process of designing Dom's Coffee. Today, we share what it has become and we couldn't be happier with the result! BIG sigh of relief. Thanks to dream clients Asta, Gitana, Andrius and Victor for being such a pleasure to work with- we are honored to have been involved in your shop and we hope the absolute best for you guys! Dom's opens Friday (in the greater Hartford area) so go get your latte with a pretty heart. It's waiting for you!
We have this client Linda. She's sweet and spunky and put complete and utter trust in our ability to update her family room, which she'll be the first to admit, hadn't been touched for 25 years. Long story short, she was ready for some major change and we gave it to her. It's fresh, clean, and classic with a hint of New England charm and hopefully she won't have to touch it for another 25 years. (Ok, 15 years at least!) We're very excited to share her before and after in which she used a Rehab Box (you can see her design board here) and a Restyle Box (can be yours too, if you're in New York / New England!). Thanks to Linda for letting us get down and dirty with some styling and photos to show off her new space!
Let's chat about the design. We all love a little wood molding here and there (and it's having a major resurgence!), but so often, it's not always done in the cleanest of ways and can be more distracting than complementary. Linda (and Mr. Linda) wanted to keep the wood accents which was more than fine with us, but to clean up the look and draw more attention to the windows, we painted the trim around the doors. We also suggested painting the built ins which now freshen up the space and complement the trim and flooring. Adding window treatments to the different sized windows tie the two together, making the room more cohesive, calm and drawing attention to their beautiful view. See the rest for yourself!
We love a good before and after and we're so thankful to Linda for allowing us to share! We have more to come and if you want to be the first to see, you can subscribe below and we'll send you an email alerting you of our latest post.
We've been busy bees around here which is a great way to start 2015! We are SO CLOSE to having some finalized projects to style and shoot I can taste it, but in the meantime, we'll share the details of our daily grind.
A coffee shop! We are knee deep in barstool selections, wood samples, and light fixtures and we've never been better.
Boxes galore! A Revive for Sach, Rehab for Linda, and Revive for Connie, all different styles with individual focuses.
Beautiful new furniture and textiles are arriving for our client Leah which you can read about here and we'll be setting the below corner gallery wall at a lovely client's home in New York this week. (Which we have yet to talk about but are very excited to share!)
Our clients in Connecticut are getting some built in bookshelf action and then some.
A bright and classic Nantucket style bathroom finished by Diane Schmunk IDS is newly photographed!
AND we have a nursery to decorate! Miss Lauren, the other Schmunk family sister, is expecting a little one in August and the first thing we did when we found out was start an inspiration board. Of course.
We're very thankful to have lots on our plate at the start of this year. Stay tuned for updates to our portfolio and check out this page if you want in on the action!
'Tis the gift wrapping season! I quite enjoy wrapping presents. I can sit on the floor, dim the lights, light a candle and sing along to White Christmas while judging how high waisted mens pants were back then. So, see above. OBVIOUSLY we like craft paper and are really hopping on this fresh pine train. Check out our pinterest board for even more inspiration and hopefully you're one step ahead and have wrapped all your gifts already!
Mr. Baughman, can we be on a first name basis? Right now, we are sourcing quite a few vintage pieces for a client and every time I scroll by one of Milo's designs I ooh and ahh and wish I could fill up my home with brass and upholstery! His style is so effortless and sleek and expensive! It hurts. These pieces are in mint condition, as the price so clearly states, and reupholstery is not necessary! (Yes, the chevron sofa is AWESOME.) But, there are many more affordable Milo pieces out there due to some wear and tear that a little love wouldn't fix in no time!
