Happy Monday, dear readers! We hope you had a cozy weekend by the fire, eating junk and watching rubbish. Were you ALSO lounging in your living room, wishing you had some spectacular ottomans on which to rest your feet? Us too! What a coincidence! Ottomans have a special place in our heart for reasons such as the following: they are awesome. The perfect multitasking piece of furniture, balancing feet, bums, trays, books, or nothing at all and just looking pretty. They fill that awkward empty corner, add some coziness where a chair won't squeeze, sit nicely under a console or at the end of a bed and always complete a room. Are they a designer's secret? Probably not anymore (thanks internet!), but we'll share our favorites anyways. Enjoy browsing!
Anyone else panicking that it's already mid-August? WHERE DOES THE TIME GO? If California wasn't such a hot mess right now I would be en route via the hitch hike as we speak to the land where summer never ends*. *But is still really cool and city-like and near the ocean. (No offense, Austin.) And since this blog is not here for me to whine about the weather, we'll talk about mirrors. We are ALWAYS suggesting them. Mirrors are maybe one of the easiest solutions to your empty wall problem, small room problem, not enough natural light problem, not enough friends problem, etc. They add serious drama and style to your space while still being functional and are slightly easier than finding the right piece of artwork. (Even though we love art and think it's important too, it can be intimidating and expensive, and we'll do a post on that later.) Mirrors have style and grace....and I probably don't need to sell you anymore because everyone loves them already, right? Check out our top picks from the endless options on the internets!
Mitch had all the great bones to a room - a lovely sofa, 2 cozy leather chairs, an oversized coffee table - but it was feeling bare. We were happy to help with some finishing touches! A graphic rug, fun firewood storage, a colorful lamp, and a great bookshelf were a few things we recommended to transform the room. (The natural light adds to the drama of the before & after but SHHHH, thats a secret!) See more photos here!
