Dearest readers, it has been a while. It feels so good to be busy but it hurts so bad to ignore you. We've had this dramatic before and after post on deck for a while- forgive us for not sharing sooner! Our friend and client, Linda, (check out her family room here) was ready to upgrade her living room, so she hired us to do a Rehab Box. We encouraged her to lighten the walls, whitewash her stone fireplace, replace her mantle, and refresh her furniture. The result is fresh, clean and cozy. Thanks again Linda for being such a sweet and fun client to work for. Enjoy! -d+e
Hey friends! We have a seriously satisfying before and after for you today. This farmhouse style dining room was once a discombobulated living room/ play room. Our super sweet and bubbly client, Dawn, has a lovely home filled with personality but her dining room just wasn't cutting it. She wanted a space in which she could happily entertain, serve, dine and lounge comfortably with friends and family around a big table and a fire. We were all for this idea! Who doesn't love a big, open dining room? (They currently have a sun-filled family room and a few other noted areas in which their "living" takes place, just in case you're worried about where their living room went.) Dawn gave us a totally blank slate and she did everything we suggested! We love how clean and fresh it turned out.
Our goal was to make this space truly feel like an intentional dining room and not like we slapped a big @$$ table in a living room. Yes, that is totally what we did. But there are other small details that help the transformation. The built-in shelving was restyled to feel more open and house serverware and glassware, sconces hung on the wall center the table, and a rug large enough to fit under all the chairs fills the length of the space and grounds the dining portion of the room. Thanks to Dawn for using us and being all around really fun to work with. This was a Rehab Box! We love when our Box clients live nearby so we can style, photoshoot, and share the end results. Most of the time, we don't get to see the finished product, but it's an extra bonus when the transformation is this striking. How do I get one of these fine Rehab Boxes, you ask? Check em' out here! Enjoy!
New York is sunny today therefore I am HAPPY! And also on that note, the ladies of Rehabitat are feeling very fortunate to get to work with such amazing clients who trust our vision and style for their space. A lovely young family from a cute New Jersey town reached out to us for help with their very long and skinny family room. And let me tell you, this room had good bones!!! The walls were already a fresh shade of white with LOTS of windows, including a window seat and a super cool sliding barn door. They needed a floor plan appropriate for the oblong space with room for play, storage for toys, and lots of seating for lounging with family and friends. Their vintage modern-boho style got us excited to give them a fresh, clean look. We were sad to say bye to this Box for sure. Thank you for using Rehabitat, Heidi! You don't need to live anywhere near us to get a Rehab Box! If you want to read more about what they include and how one can be yours, click HERE.
Hello friends! While Diane and I finalize the details and take lots of pretty pictures to launch our new pillow shop coming sooooooon, we'll share a quick post on the latest box we sent off to a super stylish and cool mom that reached out to us for help with her daughter's bedroom. She was already off to a great start with a beautiful rattan bed frame and we got giddy when we saw her existing vintage berber rug. Thank you so much for using Rehabitat, Brooke! We had a really fun time working on your daughter's bedroom. Oh and YOU TOO, kind reader, can have a Rehab Box, no matter your location! Read all about 'em here. Enjoy!
If you're new to our blog, welcome! We've been overwhelmed by all the support lately and have been pinching ourselves that we get to do what we love AND inspire others. I (Emily) have been REALLY BAD at blogging consistently, which is great because it means we're busy, but would be really great if I could find time to post more often. How does everyone do it?! Ideally, this blog would just blog itself. When's that app coming?
We thought today seemed like a good day to share a little more from our Rehab Box collections. These two boxes were for our kitty loving, whiskey collecting clients, Priya and Fraser, based in Michigan and are two of our favorites! They have great taste, a love for vintage and mid-century accent pieces, and were all around awesome to work with. Wanting to be more hands on and not quite ready to commit to a full service designer, the box was a perfect fit for them.
Check out our Rehab Box options (some might call it e-design) and see how you can get in on the action! We're in the NYC area but you don't have to be. We can work with you no matter where you live- except if you live in Hawaii, we'll have to come take measurements.
In other news, we have 2 new projects to photograph in the next couple weeks which we're totally excited to share, and I just finished shooting our place which you can see sneak peaks of on instagram to be featured on a major blog near you. Happy Friday everyone!
We have this client Linda. She's sweet and spunky and put complete and utter trust in our ability to update her family room, which she'll be the first to admit, hadn't been touched for 25 years. Long story short, she was ready for some major change and we gave it to her. It's fresh, clean, and classic with a hint of New England charm and hopefully she won't have to touch it for another 25 years. (Ok, 15 years at least!) We're very excited to share her before and after in which she used a Rehab Box (you can see her design board here) and a Restyle Box (can be yours too, if you're in New York / New England!). Thanks to Linda for letting us get down and dirty with some styling and photos to show off her new space!
Let's chat about the design. We all love a little wood molding here and there (and it's having a major resurgence!), but so often, it's not always done in the cleanest of ways and can be more distracting than complementary. Linda (and Mr. Linda) wanted to keep the wood accents which was more than fine with us, but to clean up the look and draw more attention to the windows, we painted the trim around the doors. We also suggested painting the built ins which now freshen up the space and complement the trim and flooring. Adding window treatments to the different sized windows tie the two together, making the room more cohesive, calm and drawing attention to their beautiful view. See the rest for yourself!
We love a good before and after and we're so thankful to Linda for allowing us to share! We have more to come and if you want to be the first to see, you can subscribe below and we'll send you an email alerting you of our latest post.
