When in Yucatán

It's been a tough week amigos. Getting back into the groove after a dream vacation is HARD! Why don't we have someone to serve us huevos rancheros and margaritas every morning in real life!? And si señora, the two go together wonderfully whilst overlooking the white sandy beach through tall palms waving at us in the breeze. After battling the severe depression that comes with returning through JFK customs into the November overcast and sea of wintery black coats (too soon people!), I sat down to compile all the inspiration from the beautiful Yucatán and realized I didn't take nearly enough photos.

Naturally, there was something to be inspired by everywhere we looked. I love how coconuts are utilized in every way possible- for landscaping barriers, as plants once germinated, in the sand, as drinks, etc. Equipale furniture (the iconic, authentic, historical, hand-crafted tables and chairs made of pig skin and cactus fibers that last forever) only look better with age. And the cacti! So many varieties. The patterns and color (in this case, of Mayan descent) in the tile and textiles are just lovely. Everything is so colorful and pretty, I cry and Kyle looks at me funny.

P.S. The two framed photos above are from our trip. It's always a great idea to bring along a nice camera so you can have good quality prints. Hashtag hindsight.

Milo Baughman

Mr. Baughman, can we be on a first name basis? Right now, we are sourcing quite a few vintage pieces for a client and every time I scroll by one of Milo's designs I ooh and ahh and wish I could fill up my home with brass and upholstery! His style is so effortless and sleek and expensive! It hurts. These pieces are in mint condition, as the price so clearly states, and reupholstery is not necessary! (Yes, the chevron sofa is AWESOME.) But, there are many more affordable Milo pieces out there due to some wear and tear that a little love wouldn't fix in no time!

rattan schmattan

You all know how much we love vintage finds. And if you don't, well lemme tell you...we do. Why buy new when the used often has so much more to offer? Uniqueness, extra-love, personality, a good story... and yes, "I found it on craigslist" counts because it still makes all your friends jealous.

As of late, I've especially been having a visual affair with my rattan furniture loves. And yes, I even mean that Florida 70's living room sofa set with the palm frond upholstery rattan. RELAX! In moderation, of course. For those who are interested in a pop of curiosity, rattan is an organic material that plays nicely with others, adding texture and interest to your space. Both used and new are great options. And painted doesn't hurt either! See below for visual proof!

One of us played in the brass section at one time in our lives. It may or may not have been the trombone. Not as cool as some of these pieces we love.
